<div itemprop="description">Kierstead, D. Vivien (Armstrong) RN, BN October 26, 1946 to October 20, 2014<br />Vivien passed away peacefully at the Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre on October 20, 2014, surrounded by family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 67. <br />Vivien was the loving wife of Michael Kierstead Sr. and beloved mother of Susan (Roger) Stapleton and Michael (Sonia) Kierstead Jr. The light of her life was her grandchildren, Ainsley, Evan and Gavin Stapleton and Dante Kierstead. She is survived by sister Susan (Jean-Guy) Arsenault, brother Wayne Armstrong, her special cousin Wendy Carter, her dear Great-Aunt Peggy Faulkner and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Walter and Muriel Armstrong, infant brother David, infant granddaughter Katelyn Vivien (Katey) and sister-in-law Janet Armstrong.<br />Vivien devoted her career to nursing, having graduated from Moncton Hospital School of Nursing in 1968 and earning her Bachelor of Nursing degree from U.N.B. Fredericton in 1991. She was an active member of her church community at Bathurst First United, including the UCW. She was an officer of the Bathurst Chapter Order of Eastern Star and an affiliate member of Zetland Chapter OES in Shediac Cape, N.B. She enjoyed many summers at her cottage in Pte. du Chene, N.B., where she loved to garden and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.<br />Funeral Service to be held at First United Church, 309 St. Patrick Street, Bathurst, N.B. on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Blair Lewis officiating. Reception to follow. A private family committal service will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens &amp; Funeral Home in Moncton, N.B.<br />In lieu of flowers, it was Vivien's wish that donations be made to the North Shore Shrine Club Transportation Fund (1152 VanTassel Street, Bathurst, N.B., E2A-4C8). <br />Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, (506) 852-3530.</div>
