Donald Johnson
May 12, 1929 - April 17, 2017
Johnson, Donald of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on, April 17, 2017, at the age of 87.
Born in Halifax, NS on May 12, 1929, he was the son of the late Harold and Mable (Murphy) Johnson.
Donald was a crew member of the RCMP St. Roch and returned her from Vancouver to Halifax after her second voyage through the Northwest Passage. He was stationed with the RCMP in the Marine Division in Ontario and Halifax, after which he was transferred to J. Division (NB) where he was stationed at various locations across the province. He retired in Moncton as a Staff Sergeant with 28 years of service.
Donald will be remembered by his sons; Larry, Chris (Cindy), Mike (Carolyn), Brian, daughter; Karen (Richard) Moule and his sister Marliyn (Peter) Tiefenbach.
He will also be missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his wife of 61 years Helen Johnson.
In keeping with Donald’s wishes there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernards Church, 43 Botsford St., on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 2:00pm.
Interment will take place in Fair Haven Cemetery. Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
