Elsie Beatrice Sadler (nee Boutilier) - 93 - passed away peacefully under the nursing care of the “angels” at the Moncton Hospital palliative care unit and with great compassion from her family doctors Jody Enright and Liz McCaw. Born at home on Whynacht’s Point, Tantallon, the 7th of 12 children of the late James Dell and Gladys (Smith) Boutilier , she was the loving wife of Roy Vincent Sadler for 64 years until his passing in 2007.

Elsie enjoyed and participated in many activities over the years. She was an A-list bowler and could land her golfball on the fairway well beyond the average drive. Beginning her bridge playing at age 12, Elsie made many great and lasting friends in countless bridge groups. In later years she sat at many ‘virtual’ tables playing on-line bridge with people the world over. Elsie and Roy were avid campers and travelled the country with family and friends finally settling at Loch Lomond camp ground in Amherst where many more lifelong friends were made. Being a dedicated Blue Jays fan, Elsie rarely missed a televised game and was never quiet with her ‘coaching’ suggestions. Music being a big part of her and Roy’s life, she enjoyed the family ‘jam’ sessions and played for a brief period in the bell choir at Mount Royal United Church. Above all Elsie shone most in being a dedicated and wonderful wife and mother and an unparalleled, loving grandmother and great-grandmother, never tiring of hearing “Nan?” from whosoever little voice might be present. Unmatched in traditional meal preparation, she showed her love of family at the weekly Sunday dinners with the star of the show often being a homemade pie or two.

Elsie will be forever missed and is survived by daughter Judy, son Jim, daughter-in-law Joanne, grandchildren Jill (Fred) Malpass of Ottawa, Joey (Jamie) Sadler of Toronto and Jeff (Sarah) Sadler of Moncton, great grandchildren Georgia and Elliott Malpass and three siblings, Audrey (Walter) Pilon of Sheldrake Lake, Benny (Nancy) Boutilier of Upper Tantallon and Morley (Doreen) Boutilier of Timberlea. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces including Wayne (Carol) Nash of Head of St. Margarets Bay and David (Elizabeth) Pilon of Bedford who shared their love for her often.

The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1177 Salisbury Rd, Moncton, NB. With no visitation prior, the funeral service will be held Friday, November 4th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Salvation Army or any other benefactor dear to the donors heart.
