Francis Edgett
September 6, 1932 - November 27, 2016
It is with great sadness that the family of Francis Herbert Edgett announces his passing on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
Born in Midway on September 6, 1932, Francis was the son of the late Francis and Ruby Edgett (née Wilbur). In May of 1952, he married the love of his life, Greta (née Elliott) who predeceased him in 2004. As young adults, they left Albert County and began their lives together in Moncton - though Francis remained a proud Albert County Country boy until the end of his life. He often returned to his childhood home to see the beauty of Albert County and the Fundy Shore, something that brought him great pleasure in his final years.
After a long and rewarding career as a certified drug clerk, Francis retired in 1997. He began his career at Spencer’s Drug Store, before moving on to Ford’s Apothecary, Shopper’s Drug Mart and finally Lawton’s Drug Mart in Riverview where he finished his career. A true people’s person, many of his customer’s became friends who would greet him cheerfully when they later crossed paths. After his retirement, Francis and Greta spent many winters in Dunedin, FL and many summers at their cottage in Caissie Cape, where they made countless dear friends. Francis was a fixture for many summer residents of Caissie Cape, often seen tending to his garden or puttering away at different chores, helping friends and neighbors. He was happiest when he was outside, busy working away in nature.
Francis is survived by his daughters Deborah (Greg Boudreau) of South Tetagouche and Kathy (John Foster) of Moncton; grandchildren Mathieu Boudreau of South Tetagouche, Jaclyn (Dr. Mathieu Murgatroyd) of Fredericton, Sarah (Sgt. Andrew Scott) of New Maryland, and Adam Foster of Honolulu, HI; great-grandson Willem Murgatroyd; sisters-in-law Rena Bleakney and Myrna Stewart of Riverside- Albert and Elizabeth Edgett of Brown’s Flat; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife, Francis was predeceased by his brother Dean Edgett, and brothers-in-law Carl Bleakney and Ian Stewart.
A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Friday, December 2 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment in Fair Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Moncton Hospice or the charity of donor’s choice.
