Hazel Fownes
July 18, 1922 - February 17, 2016
Hazel Irene Fownes – 1922 – 2016 – of Moncton, NB, passed away on February 17, 2016, at home. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Burns and Thelma Trites. She is survived by her son, Merlin A. Fownes and his wife Sharon, of Hammonds Plains, NS; Grandchildren, Scott (Caroline), of Kitchener, ON, Ryan of Kitchener, ON and Stacey Sangster (Michael) of Bedford, NS; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, of 59 years, Merlin C. Fownes and sister, Marion Clark. Hazel was a former employee of Clogg’s Ltd, Blue Cross, and retired from Transport Canada. She was a member of the Federal Superannuates, C.N. Pensioners’ Association and was a member of the First Moncton Baptist Church since 1935. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Fair Haven Funeral Home, with a reception to follow in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment will be in Fair Haven Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1177 Salisbury Rd, Moncton, NB, E1E 3V9, (506)852-3530. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or a memorial of your choice and would be greatly appreciated.
