John Zirpolo
January 12, 1925 - April 7, 2014
Zirpolo, John Francis (Fran) of Birch Ridge passed away at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Monday April 7, 2014 at the age of 89.
Born in Birch Ridge, NB January 12, 1925, he was the son of the late John Anthony and Katherine Elizabeth (Childs) Zirpolo. John grew up in Birch Ridge and Boston, Massachusetts. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and the American Navy (South Pacific Campaign) during World War II. John returned to Canada where he worked a number of jobs before rejoining the Royal Canadian Air Force. He married Georgina in 1954 and together they raised three sons. John was recognised as the top technician in the field of electronics and communications before retiring with the rank of sergeant in 1975. He returned to Birch Ridge and built a home, and with the help of Georgina it became a gathering place for his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Georgina (Brown) Zirpolo, sons, John (Dorothy) and Peter (Paula), daughter-in-law, Denise Zirpolo, grandchildren, Katherine, Chris Bhagan, Nicholas Bhagan, Scott, Andrew, Emma, Robbie, Erica, Jennifer, Michael and his great grandchildren, Ava Bhagan and Zachary Bhagan.
He is also survived by his sister Lucille Vanzieleghem and his nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents John was predeceased by his son Matthew and his brother Bob.
In keeping with John’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery.
