Joseph Johnston
February 3, 1932 - May 10, 2016
Johnston, Joseph “Joe” of Moncton passed away peacefully at the Bissett Court nursing home in Dartmouth, NS on May 10, 2016 at the age of 84.
Born in Moncton, NB, February 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Daniel and Lila (Langille) Johnston. Joe lived most of his life in Moncton and Shediac and worked hard at a number of professions, including many years as a meat cutter for Rinzlers and as a cook for the CN Railway. Along with his wife Janice, he particularly enjoyed gatherings of family and friends at his cottage in Pt du Chene and spending his winters in retirement in Florida. Joe treasured family above all else, with the annual summer pool party and barbecue a highlight for all. Joe was a very proud and loving grandfather and was a very meaningful part of his grandchildren’s lives.
Joe will be remembered by his daughter Heather and son-in-law David Wartman, grandchildren Jeremy Wartman, Brianne Patterson (Zack) and Kayley Wartman, sisters; Katherine Breau and Maxine Johnston and his many nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents, Joe was predeceased by his wife Janice, sisters Eleanor Finney, Marion Creaghan and Betty Wallace; and his brother Frank Johnston.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A family service will take place at a later date. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
