<div itemprop="description">Holland, Merle, a long-time resident of Ryan Street, Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Briarlea Retirement Home on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the age of 97. <br> <br>Born in Lewisville, Moncton, she was the older daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Blakney) Stiles. <br> <br>Merle is survived by her seven children: Marilyn (Cecil) Turner of Oakville, Ont.; Faye (Wayne) Tuck, Cobble Hill, B.C.; Sandra (Robert) Fairweather, Timber River, N.B.; Frank (Faye) Holland, Moncton; Ruby (Lester)McMaster, Debert, N.S.; Ruthann (Clifford) Carter, Edmonton, Alta.; and Cynthia (Randy) MacDermid, Westville, N.S. Merle will be cherished and remembered by her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews. <br> <br>In addition to her parents, Merle was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Frank., Sr., her brothers Austin and Clarence Stiles and her sister, Alva Laird. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Cecil Turner. <br> <br>Merle graduated from a nursing program in Montreal. She continued her passion of caring for many in her family and community. Many people in Moncton benefitted from the fresh produce of her market gardens and her poultry operation on Ryan Street. Holland park and Holland Drive in Moncton are named in honour of Frank and Merle’s contribution to their community. She was a member of West Lane Baptist Church and a life-longmember of its WMS. She was an accomplished craftsperson in knitting, quilting, and weaving textiles. <br> <br>The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the care and support of the staff at the Briarlea Retirement Home. <br> <br> A memorial service celebrating Merle’s life will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm with visitation from 1:00 pm until time of service. Interment will be in Fair Haven Cemetery. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. <br> <br> <br></div>
