Neil Reid
June 14, 1945 - November 20, 2016
Reid, Neil William of Riverview passed away on Sunday, November 20th at The Moncton Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Toronto, Ontario (June 14, 1945) to the late Leonard and Margaret Reid, he moved to New Brunswick in 1976 and found an east coast lifestyle that matched his pace.
He was married to Marguerite (Chisholm) for 37 years and is survived by his three daughters; Stephany (Christopher Cormier), Sarah (Michael) Dixson and Sandra (Jordan) Veenstra. He had two grandsons; Marcus and James and was predeceased by his granddaughter Amelia. Neil is also survived by his sister Diane Armstrong and brother Don Reid.
Living his life through his personal mantra ‘worry pas’, Neil balanced work, family and leisure. Neil found his passion in sales where he spent the majority of his career working for Bird Stairs in Moncton. Neil’s ‘gift of gab’ opened doors to many relationships and his perspective was valued by friends, colleagues and family.
In the earlier part of Neil’s life he was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He was an accomplished pool player and enjoyed playing poker with his buddies. Neil also loved sports; playing baseball and hockey and later encouraged all his daughters to pursue athletic endeavors. Neil’s other passions included yard sales, meeting friends for coffee at Tim’s, and striking up conversations or telling a good joke – all of which involved socializing and interacting with people.
Neil made the most of his time – he loved life, never rushed, and always accepted and supported others. He was very proud of his family, married life, and the accomplishments of his daughters. He will be fondly remembered and missed.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, November 24, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm with a Celebration of Life service from 7 to 9 pm that evening. In lieu of flowers, donations in Neil’s memory may be made to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, (506) 852-3530.
